A Notary Public is a state-appointed official who verifies the identity of signers, witnesses signatures, and helps deter fraud by notarizing important documents. Please note that a Notary Public is not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice or explain the legal meaning of documents.
Many types of documents can be notarized, including affidavits, acknowledgments, powers of attorney, real estate documents, loan paperwork, wills, trusts, medical forms, and other documents requiring a notarization. The document must contain the appropriate notarial wording, and the signer must appear in person with valid identification.
It is legally required that all signatories present a valid, government-issued photo identification. Acceptable forms include current passports, driver's licenses, or military IDs. We cannot proceed without verifying the identity of all parties.
Ensure all documents are complete but leave them unsigned until you are in the presence of the notary. All parties involved must be present and prepared to present their identification to ensure a seamless and efficient transaction.
Georgia notaries cannot perform remote online notarizations under Georgia law. All notarizations performed by a Georgia notary require the signer to appear in person.
What if I need my document notarized online?
Depending on your document and where it will be used, you may be able to use a remote online notary who is legally commissioned in a state that authorizes remote online notarization. Before choosing that option, confirm that the receiving agency or organization will accept it.
